I. Job Summary
Applies accounting knowledge in the collection, summarization and
analysis of financial information and preparation of financial reports
and supports the implementation of accounting control.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Prepares journal entries for entry into general ledger system monthly
by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and
preparing audit train support for the journal entries.
- Analyzes and reconciles general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes
accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals
- Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares monthly combined
financial statements and reports
- Performs additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports
and statements
- Assists in preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for
accuracy
- Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review
of monthly financial reports and processes.
- Prepares annual long-term and short-term financial statements in
compliance with accounting guidelines and U.S. GAAP.
- Assists in the preparation of working papers for internal and annual
audits
- Assists with the preparation of annual budgets for assigned areas.
- Assists with the maintenance, application and testing of internal
controls
- Executes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given
abstract project guidelines
III. Qualifications
the requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications
necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar area of study, and
one to three years previous general accounting-related experience.
B. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
- Must demonstrate basic to moderate proficiency with Microsoft
Excel as demonstrated through creation and formatting of workbooks,
creation of and modification to basic formulas.
- Must demonstrate basic proficiency regarding use of relational
databases such as Microsoft Access demonstrated through navigation
within software and creation of and/or modification to simple queries
and tables.
- Must demonstrate basic proficiency with time management
application such as Microsoft Outlook.
