Prudential Retirement delivers retirement plan solutions for public, private, and non-profit organizations, meeting the needs of over 3.2 million participants and annuitants. Prudential Retirement has $150 billion in retirement account values as of March 31, 2008.

A key segment within Prudential Retirement is the Full Service segment which offers plan sponsors and their participants a broad range of products and services to assist in the delivery and administration of defined contribution, defined benefit and non-qualified retirement plans, including recordkeeping and administrative services, comprehensive investment offerings, and consulting services. The segment has approximately $100 billion in account values.

This position is a member of the Controller's department within the Hartford Retirement Services division. Responsibilities of this position include the preparation of key analytics and reporting for the Full Service segment. This position also supports the analysis of Investment Income.

General Responsibilities Include:
  • GAAP & STAT reporting, including financial statement and journal preparation
  • Review of financial statements
  • Prepare Quarterly Supplemental schedules and analysis
  • Preparation and review of key analytics, reconciliations and reporting exhibits [NII, Cash-flow, AOI, Equity etc]
  • Preparation of annual / semi-annual dividend transactions
  • Preparation of Controller inputs and Investment results for the Interest Apportionment process
  • Preparation of Adjusted Operating Income reconciliations

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of GAAP and Statutory accounting and reporting
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Financial applications including voucher preparation, brief process, reporting, etc.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word and Essbase
  • General understanding of financial markets and investment vehicles a plus
  • Knowledge of Retirement Defined Contribution and / or Defined Benefit product accounting is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3-5 years progressive work experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and partnering skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • CPA Preferred

Comments:
  • Overtime may be required during critical financial reporting cycles.
  • Position is based in Hartford, CT.
