Finance Associate, Payment Specialist | The College Board | Reston, VA
The College Board, a national educational organization, is conducting a
search for a Finance Associate, Payment Specialist,, who will be
resident in our Reston, VA Office.
Position Summary
Responsible for processing payment, refund and account adjustments
timely and accurately. Perform investigation, processing,
collection and reporting of all Credit Card Chargeback (VISA,
MasterCard, American Express, and Discover) items. Perform
investigation, processing, collection and reporting of all Electronic
Check and Paper Check Returned Payment items. Perform all refund and
cancellation requests generated from College Board Operations and
Ecommerce reporting (Exceptions, Fulfillment). Respond to all inquiries
related to credit card and check processes that relate to SAT order
processing. Assist Finance team with reconciliation and reporting as
needed. Provide backup for check payment processing.
Responsibilities
- Credit Card chargeback monitoring, research, processing, collections
and reporting.
- Fraud Investigation of incoming transactions
- ECP return monitoring, research, processing, collections and
reporting.
- Receive, process, collect and report on all RTM check items received
from Wachovia and CyberCollect.
- Provide monthly reporting to Finance Management regarding
Chargeback's/Returns received and/or represented.
- Provide bi-monthly entries and reporting to Ecommerce Cash Accountant
regarding Chargeback/Returns received and/or represented for Lawson
entries.
- Provide bi-monthly entries and reporting to Ecommerce Cash Accountant
regarding ECP and RTM check items.
- Provide customer service related support for questions regarding SAT
electronic billing and returned check items.
- Update program applications, as needed, with Chargeback/Returns
received and or/represented.
- Communicate with ACS (vendor) on documentation backup as needed.
- Assist with other Credit Card Reconciliation responsibilities as
needed.
- Assist with data entry and merchant account tracking
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Technical or Professional Certificate in accounting or related field,
plus two to four years of directly-related, progressively responsible
work experience in financial record keeping including spreadsheet
preparation, analysis and reconciliation. Direct experience
working with credit card payments and charge backs necessary. Must
possess strong customer service skills and be able to deal with
difficult customer situations with a calm and professional
demeanor. Completed College coursework may be substituted for
experience if applicable.
Additional Requirements
- Good knowledge of computer technology, including word processing,
spreadsheet and data base management applications
- Thorough knowledge of basic financial processes and accounting
terminology
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to
work effectively with others
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly collaborative and consultative
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities
effectively
- Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity tools (Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Experience with Lawson financial preferred
